Tijuana opens exclusive bar inspired by Casino Agua Caliente’s golden age

This bar is located at Avenida Revolución

During the times of Prohibition in the United States, there were speakeasies, secret illicit bars that sold alcohol. However, some Americans, especially California residents, had a small paradise where they could have fun and drinks without worrying about their country’s law enforcement.

What was this small paradise? Tijuana, specifically, the now-defunct Casino Agua Caliente, a haven for famous celebrities during Hollywood’s golden age of film. Now, what does this have to do with the city’s new and exclusive bar?

This bar called Llandró Speakeasy wants to rescue the aesthetics and exclusivity of the 1930s and is located exactly at a historic place in Tijuana, founded in 1928 by Jaime Llieteas who had arrived from Spain to settle in Mexican lands.

This new bar is in the basement of this place and has Art Deco-style architecture and atmosphere thanks to the work of architect Dulce Gómez and artist Maritza Saavedra. Here you will able to try out delicious cocktails and mocktails that you will love.

How do you get into this basement? There are several things you must know: first, it is found inside a restaurant; second, you need a password or code in order to enter. The restaurant also belongs to the owner of this exclusive bar concept and is called Piedra Santa Restaurante.
