Marina del Pilar claims Playa Hermosa in Ensenada is suitable for recreational activities

She highlighted the coordination between the state and the federation to solve a priority issue for the community

Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Baja Californian Governor, announced that Playa Hermosa in Ensenada has the sanitary conditions to be certified as being suitable for recreational activities for local, national, and international visitors. This occurred after samples were analyzed by the Federal Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS).

According to COFEPRIS reports, after monitoring 290 Mexican beaches, the ones in Ensenada have been certified and don’t have any health risks. Ávila Olmeda highlighted the work and coordination of the corresponding authorities so that the quality of water of treatment wastewater plant “El Gallo” was able to comply with the levels allowed by official law.

Regarding this, the Secretariat of the Management, Treatment, and Protection of Water (SEPROA) carried out actions to plan an adequate treatment plant operation. In order to achieve this, the technical department of the Ensenada State Commission of Utilities (CESPE) repaired the wastewater diversion valve.

Cleaning of sediments was also carried out in order to control sand and solids inside the treatment plant. Mud flow pumps were also repaired in order to increase the efficiency and their discharge. Marina del Pilar stated that disinfection capacity has been increased, through a daily lab control of the concentration of sedimentary solids and the tributary quality.

The state governor highlighted that, with these actions, the treated water quality has been kept at optimal levels. In addition, independent of the analysis carried out by state and federal agencies, CESPE is also performing its own monitoring, in order to guarantee proper wastewater treatment.
