Marina del Pilar highlights ranking of Valle de Guadalupe as one of the best wine regions in the world

Governor Marina del Pilar confirmed that Valle de Guadalupe is one of the best wine regions in the world

Pitted against US and Canadian wine regions, Valle de Guadalupe was ranked 3rd place in “USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice 2022”, in a competition that ranked the best wine regions in the world.

The governor emphasized the drive that industry workers and entrepreneurs have had to be competitive and make this one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico.

Marina del Pilar also emphasized that industry experts selected 20 regions, which were nominated in this competition. Only 10 of these were winners, who were chosen by voting users. This means that potential visitors were the ones who chose Valle de Guadalupe.

It should be noted that more than 80% of Mexican wine is made in Baja California. Its quality and international renown meant that the state was chosen as the venue of the 43rd World Congress of Vine and Wine.

“Among a list of Canadian and US regions, Valle de Guadalupe was ranked 3rd place as the best wine region, revealing what Baja California is worth and highlighting the great work carried out by our industry workers and entrepreneurs,” the governor stated.

Ávila Olmeda highlighted that wine is very important and relevant for Valle del Guadalupe residents, since it represents a great percentage of the state’s sales. It has undoubtedly become an important attractive tourist destination due to the variety of the awards it has received that have boosted the fame of Baja Californian producers and makers nationwide and internationally.

For his part, Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez spoke about the economic, social, and cultural importance that Valle de Guadalupe has not only for the state but for the entire country, and the way that ecological work carried out by the state government has strengthened the region. It has received more visitors from all over the world interested in natural landscapes, wine quality, and the richness that one can find in this region's gastronomy.

“Valle de Guadalupe keeps strengthening and the Secretary of Tourism has kept a permanent dialogue with wine producers to analyze strategies that make the valley more attractive. Because we know that the wellbeing of families depends on tourist activities. These families are a part of a community and they know the importance of wine as an emblem of the state of Baja California,” he emphasized.
