Marina del Pilar: Baja California is the national leader in workspace quality

For 3rd quarter in a row, Baja California is first place in the Quality and Competitiveness of State Employment Index

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda highlighted that the state has kept up the highest employment and contracted work levels in all of Mexico. This is because of the constant dynamism between entrepreneurs and workers. Thanks to the creation of more than 38,500 jobs between January and June of this year, the state has led for three trimesters in a row the Quality and Competitiveness of State Employment Index, which is based on the National Survey of Jobs and Employment by the National Statistics and Geography Institute (INEGI).

During the 34th edition of “Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” which took place in Mexicali, the state governor acknowledged and congratulated the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador after he met US President Joe Biden in Washington, since he was able to reach bilateral agreements to directly benefit Baja California regarding competitiveness.

Among these, there is the coordination of economic policy issues between both nations, in order to expand and strengthen productivity in North America, as well as an announcement of a joint border infrastructure modernization plan to make the crossing of people and merchandise much more efficient. With this, they managed to give a noteworthy boost to the industrial development of Baja California which, according to Marina del Pilar, reaffirms President López Obrador’s commitment with the state and its people.

Regarding the Quality and Competitiveness of State Employment Index, Ávila Olmeda highlighted that the results confirmed the economic boost obtained thanks to the closeness to several economic sectors, in order to build better development conditions for enterprises, but above all, to create jobs so that there is a better quality of life for all families.

“For the governments of the Fourth Transformation, it is very important that there is a boost to economic activities with a vision where the most important thing is the wellbeing of people, because we are interested in the creation of well-paying jobs,” the governor stated and emphasized that the state has managed to get these results because it has a diverse and dynamic labor market, especially in the export sector.

Marina del Pilar explained that another factor is taking advantage of the proximity to the United States, which has allowed industrial, tourist, and logistic activities to continue growing. All of this is added with the willingness of working permanently along with the business and the worker sectors, strengthening competitiveness, job security, better jobs, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

“All of this is being done very responsibly because we know the state's problems and, along with our citizens, we are building solutions to improve the quality of life of people so that the economic boost is the basis for the wellbeing of everyone,” the Baja California Governor emphasized.
