The Secretariat of Tourism of Oaxaca revealed some excellent news since the city of Oaxaca leads the list of the 25 Best Cities in the World by World’s Best Awards by international magazine Travel + Leisure. These awards are given to the best of the traveling industry in the world.

Travel + Leisure magazine pointed out that this state’s capital is “a dream gastronomic destination, especially for mole and mezcal enthusiasts.”

Several readers also spoke enthusiastically about its architecture, its artisan craft shops, museums, streets, coffee shops, restaurants, and the kindness of Oaxaca natives.

Something to note is that Oaxaca “has once again landed at the top of readers' list of favorite cities around the world, after being number 8 last year.”

It is followed by San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato, Mexico in 2nd place, and Ubud, Indonesia, in 3rd place; Florence, Italy, in fourth place, and Istanbul, Turkey, in fifth place.

Every year, the World’s Best Awards polls summons Travel + Leisure readers to evaluate and asses their traveling experiences and share their opinions about the different cities of the world.

These cities were voted considering their gastronomy, kindness, hotels, cultural heritage, main attractions, and COVID-19 protocols.

After voting, which took place from October 25, 2021 to February 28, 2022, the magazine’s editors and a research company determine the rating of each city and select the 25 cities that will be a part of the list.

Lastly, with a rating of 92.26, Oaxaca City is number one among travelers’ favorite cities of the world.
