On Saturday early morning, long lines occurred in order to pick up hundreds of passengers that arrived in Tijuana’s International Airport. Moreover, some passengers shared to San Diego Red that there was an airplane line in order to land which is why they needed to wait a few minutes in order to get off the plane.
This doesn’t surprise us considering that Tijuana has become one of Mexico’s biggest airports. In fact, Cancun, Los Cabos, and Tijuana have doubled their traffic and have increased the numbers they had before the COVID-19 pandemic.
These destinations have begun to recover quickly in this summer season, especially thanks to tourists, since it is mostly Americans who are visiting these cities. Cancun, for example, is currently handling 10.6% more passengers than in 2019.
According to media outlet Expansión México, similar numbers are happening in Tijuana and Los Cabos. They are benefitted, above all, from the US Market. Tijuana’s airport has had in just the first few months of 2022, an increase of 34.6% more passengers than in 2019.
Regarding Tijuana, a clear advantage that is attractive for Americans is the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), which has been a great growth booster that shot it all the way up to 40.1% in June.
