Governor Marina del Pilar guarantees social security for the police in Baja California

An agreement was signed with the Police Federation of Baja California to guarantee social security

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda signed an agreement with the Police Federation of Baja California to guarantee social security for state police members. The agreement was undersigned by both the governor and Federation President, Alejandro Monreal Noriega.

In presence of police organization leaders, the heads of the municipalities of Ensenada, Playas de Rosarito, and San Quintin, as well as representatives of state security and justice forces, Marina del Pilar stated that this agreement is a result of coordination between associations and the state government.

“I know how you give it your all every day, risking your lives to aid Baja California so that it is a place of peace, so that it is safe. Because our job should go beyond preventing and fighting crime, we, ourselves, are the promoters of a true culture of peace in the state. I want you to know that in our government we value immensely your work and we feel great gratitude with all good policemen and women. They are the ones who work with the most ethic and put in all of their efforts to bring safety to all families,” she said.

The governor explained that, in coordination with the State Congress of Baja California, a budget of 250 million pesos was allocated for social security as a way to value the work done by the police, an initiative with no precedence in the history of the state. This, along with agreements already signed, fulfills a commitment she had made.

“Our policies take care of the people, but you are the ones who are also part of the people. You are the people with uniform, as the President of Mexico says, and we have a commitment with each of you and your families. This agreement is an acknowledgment of your bravery and integrity and a way to tell you publicly how important you are for this government and how much we value the work that you do to bring safety to our families,” she underscored.

For his part, Monreal Noriega stated that the document shows Marina del Pilar’s proof of support for all policemen and policewomen of Baja California, especially the approximately 10,000 cops who are part of the Police Federation. Subsequently, he paid tribute to the more than 70 agents of the organization who died due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also thanked Marina del Pilar for supporting them ever since she was mayor of Mexicali, since it was that period when the foundations were built to get the benefits that they have nowadays, as well as the work that is being carried out to increase the rights of those who are in charge of ensuring there is peace in the streets to benefit children, teenagers, women, and all people in the state.

At the event, the following people were present: Secretary of Citizen Security of Baja California, General Gilberto Landeros Briseño; Ensenada Municipal President, Armando Ayala Robles; Mayor of Playas de Rosarito, Araceli Brown Figueredo; President of the Foundational Council of San Quintin, Jorge López; head of the organization Hermandad de Sangre Azul, Jorge González Ornelas, as well as cops from different corporations and their families.
