Marina del Pilar strengthens coordination with Mexican government

The governor continues to follow up on agreements with the Secretariat of the Interior, CONAGUA, and the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection

In coordination with the state government and the federation, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Baja California Governor, participated in the work meeting of Mexico City with the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, in order to follow up on agreements and public policies that are meant to improve people’s lives.

In this meeting, the issues addressed with civil and business institutions were ones previously discussed in the most recent visit of the Secretary of the Interior in Baja California, whose goal was to strengthen the coordination between both levels of government.

Marina del Pilar and López Hernández spoke about issues such as immigration assistance, progress made on recommendations regarding gender alerts, water supply in Baja California’s coastal area, among other issues to optimize the present and future of the state. It should be noted that other issues were also addressed with the Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection of the Government of Mexico, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, and the General Director of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), Germán Martínez Santoyo.

Mexico City’s head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo was also present and she exchanged ideas with Governor Marina del Pilar to strengthen links with the capital of Mexico, progressing on issues that are very important for Baja Californians and are closely related to what goes on in the country’s capital. Some of these issues include mobility and economy, as well as social and cultural links that exist between both regions.

Ávila Olmeda also highlighted the willingness of the Secretary of the Interior to aid in specific issues for Baja California, projects that will begin operations in the state in the next few years, always with the support of the federal government’s institutions. President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador has instructed this to be the case and has emphasized the needs of the people in Baja California above all.

In addition, as part of her visit to the country’s capital, Marina del Pilar participated in the commemoration of the third anniversary of the National Guard (GN) that took place in Mexico City presided by President López Obrador. The governor highlighted the importance that this entity has had in the Government of Mexico’s security strategy in coordination with the 32 federal entities, which have managed significant progress in bring back peace to Mexicans, with particular success in Baja California.

Along with other governors of the country, as well as officials and heads of security corporations, Governor Marina del Pilar went to the Heroico Colegio Militar facilities in Tlalpan where she witnessed the celebrations carried out by López Obrador, as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, as well as a training display by National Guard members. She also witnessed the President’s message to members of this agency and Mexican society at large.

At the presidium the following people were present: Secretary of National Defense, Luis Crescencio Sandoval; the Secretary of the Navy, José Rafael Ojeda Durán; Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez; General Head of Police Coordination of the National Guard, Ernesto Joaquín Geminiano Jiménez; Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, President of the General Committee of the Chamber of Deputies; Olga Sánchez Coordinadora, President of the Chamber of Senators Committee; Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, Government of Mexico spokesman, among other public officials.
