The creation of new railway routes in the country has been progressing little by little, adding new cities and locations so that tourism and all the states can join together as one. With the latest update, one of the longest train routes has now been extended to include Baja California Sur.

The Pacific Train will be part of the planned train routes of Mexico’s new railway system. Specifically, this route will be able to transport people from the state of Chiapas and go through places such as Acapulco, Manzanillo, Guadalajara, Culiacan, Hermosillo, Mexicali, Tijuana, San Quintin, La Paz, and finally end up in Cabo San Lucas.

On Monday, May 9, representative Miguel Torruco Garza officially submitted his initiative in the Chamber of Deputies. Previously, this route would go through a total of 4,700 kilometers (2920 miles) by traveling from Tijuana to Tapachula, but it has become longer with this latest update. Because of this, this route will continue to be the longest as it will travel all the way to the end of Baja California Sur.

An expansion of Mexico’s railway system is being explored with the creation of new passenger train lines. It is expected that by 2050, 11 new routes will be working all across the country. These routes will be: Pacific Train, Isthmus Train, Mayan Train, Bajío Train, Center Train, Oaxaca Train, Gulf Train, Cross-Sectionl Train, Oriental Train, Occidental Train, and El Chepe.
