Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Baja Californian Governor, signed this Saturday an agreement with the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE) which grants the state an electrical energy subsidy that will benefit thousands of families.
Along with the state Secretary of Finance, Marco Antonio Moreno Mexía, the governor stated that this aid will start in May and its effects will be felt in this month’s first fortnight.
She stated that thanks to actions taken by the Baja Californian government, the subsidy’s amount was able to be increased from 600 to 700 million pesos.
Mexicali is the municipality that is benefited the most with this agreement and San Felipe is included for the first time as it is the newest municipality in the state.
Both communities, she said, register the highest temperatures in the state during summer and, due to this, a higher level of electricity consumption.
The governor stated that the main goal of this subsidy is to support Baja Californians and make sure that the high costs of energy consumption don’t affect families’ economy.
“Every year this aid is approximately 600 million pesos and, on this occasion, thanks to actions taken, we increased this amount to 700 million pesos for Baja Californian families,” she highlighted.
