Baja Do’s & Don’ts: Tips for Americans who will visit Baja California

Find out the tips on what to do and what not to do in Baja California

Visiting Baja California for the first time can be a little complicated, especially if you are American and are not used to the traffic, the customs, the dynamics in different places, and even the exchange rate. This is why at the Baja Window to the South’s Baja Do’s & Don’ts segment we will reveal everything you need to know about things that you should do and we will tell you what things not to do when visiting this wonderful state.

One of the ”Do’s” you definitely “must” do when visiting Baja California is to visit the Cheese Route, located 12 km (7 miles) from Ojos Negros in Valle Real del Castillo in Ensenada. Here you will find the first company dedicated to cheesemaking in the region, started by the Ramonetti family in 1911. In La Cava de Marcelo you can enjoy delicious cheese in different varieties such as basil, pepper, and romero, as well as cheese that has been aged for months and even years. This cave not only has bread and homemade wine, but it is also the only cheesemaking cave available to the public in all of the Americas.

And regarding one of the ”Don’ts”, it is recommended that you don’t forget your Mexican car insurance policy. If you ever happen to be in an accident, your normal American policy won’t be valid in Mexico. When you buy your Mexican insurance policy, you will avoid many issues such as having your car towed or ending up in jail. You can buy policies that last from one day to one year, not too dissimilar to the ones in the US, and you can apply to them and buy them online.

Baja Do’s & Don’ts is a segment of the Baja Window to the South show where one can find out the wonderful things that Baja California has to offer American tourists.
