After revealing that 900 communities in Tijuana and Rosarito will have their water services shut, the Chief of General Management of CESPT, Juan Jorge Enríquez García, stated that the water outage will begin at 00:00 AM on Thursday, March 3. It is expected water valves to be opened, so as to recover the service, 24 hours later in the early hours of Friday, March 4.

In the most elevated and remote areas, such as Southern Tijuana, total recovery of the services may occur until the early hours of Saturday.

It is recommended that people gather the necessary water for basic activities for this period of time and that way prevent an early shortage. At the same time, once the service is renewed, users are being asked to use water in limited quantities, only for basic needs, in order to speed up supply in the affected areas.

More than 100 elements of CESPT will be working on this issue, as well as specialized external personnel.

Maintenance Network Supervisor, René Valdez Reyes stated that there are 11 maintenance works that have to be carried out regarding pipes and leak repair.

Furthermore, they also explained that there will be work done on Hacienda Las Fuentes to remove a venting whose service life has finished. A leak will be worked on in Cañadas del Florido where the aqueduct needs to be emptied. Another leak that needs to be repaired is located at Boulevard Díaz Ordaz in Tijuana.

Due to this, the general public is being asked to be extra careful in the areas surrounding these works. Subsecretary of Water Management, Sanitation, and Protection (SEPROA), engineer Francisco López Chavez, and Chief of the Water and Sanitation Department chemist Luis Omar Raygoza Portillo were both present at the press conference.
