More than 147 million pesos in federal funding for migrant children were delivered

Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, the Governor of Baja California, worked with the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to handle unprecedented federal resources for the direct protection of migrant children in difficult situations, a priority for Marina del Pilar's government.

More than 147.4 million pesos will be provided to programs in 2022 targeted at helping migrant children through places devoted to their care and that is part of the National Social Assistance System, according to the Governor. Public.

Among the initiatives, the restoration, equipment, supply of supplies, and resources for the operation of the Migrant Sanctuary in Tijuana stands out, with an annual expenditure of 40 million 798 thousand 441 pesos, and will serve an average of 150 migrants each day. It is a facility that meets with the Fourth Transformation's main policy of providing appropriate space to migrants in need, particularly families with children who require a place to live in dignity while their immigration status is established.

The Governor further directed that the DIF Tijuana Temporary Shelter be expanded, equipped, supplied, and a budget be maintained to ensure that the children who are housed there are in the best possible circumstances. A budget of 46 million 842 thousand 22 pesos will be allotted for this in 2022.

Similarly, the Reception Module, Attention to Repatriated or Unaccompanied Migrant Children and Adolescents in Tijuana, which serves 60 minors daily and requires a budget of $14.8 million this year, will be rehabilitated, outfitted, and equipped with what is required. pesos.

Due to the necessity of this space for the care of migrants in Baja California's capital, the Pilgrim Shelter building in Mexicali, which feeds 200 people daily, will be enlarged at a budget of 44,957,064 pesos. The four initiatives cost a total of 147,435,993 pesos and 90 cents, and they will make a difference in the lives of the youngsters.

Finally, Marina del Pilar underlined the government of the State of Baja California's commitment to putting the needs of the most vulnerable groups first, as well as its commitment to ensuring the well-being of girls, boys, and adolescents in the state under all circumstances.
