Residents of Isla de Cedros are being vaccinated against Covid-19 by the government of Marina del Pilar.

On Friday, more than 1,500 immunizations were administered as part of the vaccination program's reinforcement.

The Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, prioritizes the health of Baja Californians, which is why the Secretary of Health, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, coordinated the vaccination of the entire population of Isla de Cedros, located in the Pacific Ocean and on the border with Baja California Sur, against Covid-19.

More than 1,500 vaccinations were administered on Friday as part of a strengthening of the immunization program for adults aged 40 and up, as well as initial doses for young people turning 14 in 2022 and teenagers aged 18 and up. With this, 98 percent of the island's and surrounding archipelagos' population within certain age groups is biologically protected.

In the case of the application for young people turning 14 in 2022, Medina Amarillas stated that these initiatives are part of Governor Marina del Pilar's attempts to increase Baja California's vaccination margins, which is a leading entity in this area.

"The mission is to vaccinate all of the residents of Isla de Cedros; we know that it is an area in need of more hospital infrastructure, which is why it is a priority of our Government that the people who live in this community are fully protected against this pandemic, and, in turn, let us know first-hand the needs of the residents, and let them know that Governor Marina del Pilar has them in mind," he said.

Vaccination in difficult-to-access locations, as well as individuals with physical impairments, such as people with mobility problems or who are deprived of their liberty in the various State prison institutions, is one of the motives for travelling to the Island.

The day was extraordinary and intensive, and in addition to immunizing hundreds of people, Medina Amarillas responded to a variety of requests from the general public, all under the premise that the Government of Baja California puts The Heart Ahead to improve the living conditions of all people, regardless of where they live, their creed, or political ideology.

It should be noted that a reserve of vaccines has been set aside for people who are about to receive their second dose of vaccine, as well as for people who live on islets near Isla de Cedros, demonstrating Governor Marina del Pilar's commitment to protecting the health of people from all of Baja California's communities.
