Money raised from the registration of non-imported vehicles will be used to fix cracks and holes on the road

Around 1,250 million pesos might be collected in Baja California for the state patchwork

Following the ratification of the decree to regulate chocolate vehicles in 10 Mexican states, Alejandro Ruiz Uribe, the Federal Delegate of Baja California, declared that the funds raised will be utilized to patch up the areas where the rule takes effect. Automobiles from other countries must be regulated.

The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodrguez, revealed in the morning presented by Mexico's President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, that it is estimated that 5,500 million pesos will be recovered if they are regularized. all of the chocolate automobiles in the nation.

Rosa Icela announced that approximately 370 vehicles used in the commission of qualified homicides were detained in Baja California between November 1, 2019 and August 30, 2020, with 78 percent of these being of foreign or irregular origin. He stressed the importance of regularizing these vehicles to reduce insecurity in the state, as these cars are frequently used by criminal groups to commit crimes.

"The fact is that these sorts of units circulate on our streets every day," she added, "and they need to be regularized for everyone's safety, to eliminate anonymity, and to conduct investigations to uncover those guilty for the violence."

It should be recalled that there are 500,000 illicit automobiles in Baja California; therefore, the state patching budget would be roughly 1,250 million pesos.
