Proof of vaccination will be required to cross into the U.S. starting November 8th

New federal mandate will allow non-essential crossings into the country

The White House informed that as of November 8th, all individuals wishing to cross into the United States for tourist purposes will be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

The measure applies to those entering by air or land, according to the new mandate of the federal government, thus ending the restrictions that were imposed more than a year and a half ago and that will reactivate the economy in the southern counties of California.

It is worth mentioning that U.S. residents or citizens will be exempted from showing proof of vaccination to cross into the U.S., according to Jeffrey Zients, who is in charge of the strategy against the pandemic and is the coordinator of the White House team.

In addition, foreign international travelers will be required to submit to a COVID-19 test three days before crossing into the U.S., verifying that they have tested negative.

The latter requirement also applies to unvaccinated U.S. residents and citizens returning to the country by air, as they will be required to take a negative test one day prior to departure and a second test after landing on U.S. territory, and the above policy will apply to land border crossings.

It was recently announced that unvaccinated children under 12 years of age will be able to enter the United States accompanied by their vaccinated parents.
