City Hall closes two establishments for not respecting protocols

Both establishments exceeded the permitted capacity of people

The Inspection and Verification Department of the XXIII City Hall of Tijuana closed two establishments located in the Downtown area after they exceeded the permitted capacity under the sanitary protocol to prevent further COVID-19 infections. As a result of this, four fines were applied to businesses, eight to street vendors and another three sanctions to swap meets for the same reasons.

"It is a priority of the municipal president, Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland, to keep commercial plazas, public spaces, restaurants, bars, and businesses more hygienic, and that the sanitary guidelines are respected in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is being experienced worldwide, to prevent infections," said César Abraham Heredia Rodríguez, director of Municipal Inspection and Verification.

The official explained that during this weekend's operations, two bars were closed, one in Downtown and another one in the Zona Urbana Rio Tijuana, because they exceeded the permitted capacity, which is 50 percent of its capacity.

Also, fines were applied to two bars, located in Zona Rio, for lack of documentation to operate; two sanctions were applied to a restaurant and an alcoholic beverage outlet for not respecting the sanitary protocol and not having their documents in order, these in the Playas de Tijuana delegation.

Regarding street vending, the Inspection and Verification personnel applied eight fines to vendors in the Cerro Colorado, La Mesa, Otay Centenario and San Antonio de los Buenos districts, for not respecting the capacity and exceeding the established dimensions; as well as to three businesses in the Las Torres and Salvatierra markets, for not wearing masks.

Heredia Rodríguez assured that they will continue to reinforce operations in main avenues and boulevards, as well as in shopping malls, bars, restaurants, and places where there is a large number of people in order to prevent infections. Likewise, in swap meets and street commerce of those areas that concentrate active cases, located by the Secretariat of Health, such as the following neighborhoods: Maclovio Rojas, Torres del Matamoros, Nueva Tijuana, Ampliacion Sánchez Taboada and Zona Rio.
