Elected governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, commits to athletes for the 2024 Olympic Games

The elected governor reiterated the creation of a Fund for the Promotion of High Performance Athletes

Baja California athletes who represented Mexico in the Tokyo Olympic Games were recognized this Tuesday by Baja California´s elected governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, who pointed out that there is a deep commitment from the upcoming government with athletes to promote their participation in the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris, France.

In this sense, she reaffirmed her interest in looking after the athletes, their families, coaches and other personnel involved in helping them achieve their goals, since they contribute directly to the development of the state of Baja California and its inhabitants.

"Everything is part of a commitment to achieve better athletes and better people, and we must all act from our trenches, we cannot be short in our support and solidarity. We must all be champions, we must all work for sports and physical activity, because that is how great human projects are, and that is how triumph is forged," she said.

Marina del Pilar made it clear that in the administration that will start next November 1st, a deep promotion of physical activity and sports will be promoted, always taking into account the opinion of experts to give an important place to this activity that strengthens health and the social fabric, making athletes a central axis in the fulfillment of the objectives.

Likewise, she confirmed the creation of a Fund for the Promotion of High Performance Athletes, which will ensure the presence of these athletes in national and international competitions, both in the American continent and in other regions of the world.

"Today we are telling Mexico and the world that Bajacalifornians are going for increasingly important spaces in the Olympic medal standings, thank you for making us feel proudly Baja Californians, congratulations," said the elected governor of Baja California to the athletes present at Tuesday's event.

The athletes shared their experiences in Tokyo, and highlighted Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda's interest in supporting athletes in the coming years, so that those who already practice a discipline are strengthened and that young people interested in practicing a sport have every opportunity to develop.

The event was attended by Luis Álvarez Murillo, Archery medalist; Aremi Fuentes Zavala, Weightlifting medalist; Alexa Citlali Moreno Medina, Artistic Gymnastics athlete; Daniel Corral Barrón, Artistic Gymnastics athlete; Eder Fraire Moctezuma, Cycling athlete; Román Ali Solís, Olympic baseball player; Adrián González, Olympic baseball player and Diego Cervantes, Olympic fencer, as well as coaches, family members of the athletes and important members of the Baja California sports community.
