Tijuana promotes investment in the medical equipment sector

The XXIII Tijuana City Hall participated in the MD&M West Show 2021 manufacturing event, held in Los Angeles

Through the Secretariat of Economic Development, the XXIII Tijuana City Hall participated in the manufacturing event MD&M West Show 2021, held in Los Angeles County, as part of the efforts to promote and attract investment that allows the growth of the manufacturing sector in the city.

During the working tour, the municipal president, Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland, highlighted the importance of continuing the actions that promote the arrival of new companies, which contribute to the economic growth of the city and strengthen the supply chain and advanced manufacturing, to generate the fundamental conditions for attracting investment in the entity and the locality.

"We are very pleased to attend this working tour together with state authorities, representatives of the different municipalities and the private sector, who are strategic allies in knowing first-hand the needs of the manufacturing sector. Events as important as this one allow us to attract potential investors and advanced industry technology for the growth of our city," explained the mayor.

For his part, the Secretary of Economic Development, Gabriel Camarena Salinas, highlighted the importance of the growth of this sector in our city, which currently houses, on average, 50 companies focused on the manufacture of medical equipment, employing close to 50 thousand people.

The Medical Design and Manufacturing Innovations and Technology -MD&M- event featured an information booth, headed by the Baja California state government, through the Secretariat of Sustainable Economy and Tourism (SEST), together with members of the Tijuana Economic and Industrial Development Council (DEITAC), the Baja Medical Devices Cluster and the economic development commissions of Mexicali, Tecate and Ensenada.

The MD&M West event was held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Los Angeles County, California, with the participation of more than one thousand 400 industry representatives and more than 13 thousand professionals in the field. This trade fair brought together representatives from more than 70 countries.

During the visit, contact with prospective companies in order to attract new supply opportunities was made, with the purpose of helping the companies established in the city to generate better business and opportunities in the region.

A total of 23 companies and one Arizona State Government agency attended the event; in addition, work meetings were held, in which information was provided about the city and the investment possibilities of the companies.
