The XXIII Tijuana City Hall, through the Municipal Inspection and Verification Department, will reinforce surveillance operations in commercial plazas, establishments and swap meets, in order to continue with the application of sanitary filters and to respect the capacity, due to the return to yellow color on the epidemiological traffic light chart.
"It is a priority of the Municipal President, Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland, to safeguard the health and integrity of the population in the face of COVID-19 pandemic, since, due to the increase in the mobility of the population, the number of active cases has increased in the city. Due to this, he urged people not to let their guard down and to respect the guidelines established by the health authorities", informed the head of Inspection and Verification, Cesar Abraham Heredia Rodríguez.
"We will continue with verification operations to ensure that the sanitary protocols in establishments are followed, such as the mandatory use of masks, the use of antibacterial gel, temperature taking, that the places and/or spaces are kept clean and hygienic, that the capacity and the healthy distance are respected," said the official.
Heredia Rodríguez assured that they will be more vigorous with the application of fines and sanctions, mainly in bars, restaurants and nightclubs, since in previous occasions they have not respected the capacity nor the established schedules. In the case of swap meets, the sanction will be equivalent to more than 10 minimum wages or up to five thousand pesos.
In this sense, during this weekend, the Inspection and Surveillance Department closed three restaurants in the La Mesa and Centro delegations, for lack of hygiene and for not having complete documentation to operate. They also applied 49 fines to swap meets, 15 of them for selling to people who were not wearing masks and for not keeping their spaces clean.
Likewise, due to lack of hygiene, 17 established businesses were fined, and 12 street vendors were fined for exceeding the dimensions of their stalls or for having expired permits to sell on public streets.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemiological traffic light in yellow phase, state health authorities will only allow 75 percent of capacity in gyms, sports centers, spas, massage centers, cinemas, theaters, museums, cultural events, shopping malls, hotels, executive salons, restaurants, cafeterias, hairdressers, beauty salons, barbershops, supermarkets and public transportation.
In addition, up to 50 percent of the capacity of professional games held in stadiums or sports fields may be attended, and their organizers must issue a letter of no inconvenience to the State Secretariat of Health. The above must also be done by religious centers, temples of worship, synagogues, among others; nightclubs, casinos, bars and garden-type event halls and spas, amusement parks, recreational centers and fairs.
