Baja California accumulates half as many active cases as on its record day

Tijuana was the municipality that once again registered the highest number of cases

Active cases continue to increase in Baja California reaching 712 today after adding 670 last Friday.

Tijuana is the municipality where most of these cases are located and the one that increased 30 more in one day, going from 279 to 309. It is followed by Mexicali with 220, Ensenada with 137, Rosarito with 26, Tecate with 16 and San Quintin with four of the total.

According to the head of the Ministry of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, in one month the state went from 355 active cases to 712 this morning. This last figure represents half the number of cases that Baja California had on its record day, one thousand 489.

On the other hand, the state also added 106 new cases in the last 24 hours, 58 of which belong to Tijuana, 27 to Mexicali, 14 to Ensenada, four to Rosarito and three to Tecate.

In addition to this, nine more deaths were registered, but these correspond to July 18, 24, 25, 28 and 30, said Pérez Rico.

He added that in the last 21 days there has been an increase in the number of suspected cases, as the third wave of infections is near. "Again, doctors and nurses will be required to enter COVID areas with intubated and hospitalized patients. This third wave is going to be called 'Unvaccinated'," he commented.

This is due to the fact that this sector of the population is the one that is entering hospitals to be intubated the most.

He also mentioned that they are already planning the reconversion of hospitals to face the third wave, if necessary.

The Secretary of Health highlighted that Rosarito, Tijuana and Mexicali are where the virus is reproducing the most, and where the population must be more careful, since there will be more cases in the next 10 to 14 days.
