Active cases of COVID-19 increased from 533 to 589 in Baja California, from yesterday to today, informed the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico. Most of the municipalities increased the number of cases, but Tijuana continues to lead the list with 233 of the 533 cases in the state.

On the other hand, in the last 24 hours 117 new cases of COVID-19 were added in Baja California, 57 of these were reported in Tijuana, 30 in Mexicali, 17 in Ensenada, six in Rosarito, six in Tecate, and one in San Quintin. With these figures, the state has a total of 52 thousand 404 confirmed cases so far in this health crisis.

Regarding deaths, 8 thousand 791 people have lost their lives to this disease in the state, eight of which were registered recently, although four of them belong to 2020 and the other four happened 14 days ago.

On this point, Pérez Rico said that although Ensenada does not register as many cases, this municipality as well as Tijuana are at risk of changing their coloration in the epidemiological traffic light chart due to the gradual increase that has been observed, while Mexicali is moving towards green.

At the same time, he added that Ensenada is of special concern to the authorities due to its incidence of confirmed cases, since if the third wave of infections arrives in Baja California, this port could be the epicenter.

In view of this, the distant dependencies of Ensenada, as well as establishments and population in general, were asked to attend to this situation and be co-responsible with the state.
