The San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce has been asking U.S. and Mexican authorities to lift border crossing restrictions for months. Everything seemed to indicate that July would be the month when the restrictions would begin to be relaxed, however, this will not happen.

The merchants, who are the most affected, have previously stated that there can be no economic reactivation if the border is not opened and unfortunately many of the businesses operating along the border are on the verge of bankruptcy.

According to Border Report, San Ysidro merchants are tired of the border restrictions, the Tianguis Swap Meet, where Rossy's Fashion store is located, has expressed its disapproval of the refusal of Mexican and U.S. authorities to allow a reopening for tourists.

So far, the only thing that is clear is that the border reopening will be gradual and according to speculation by the Tijuana Development Council (CDT), the restrictive measures would be eliminated in stages: first for Sentri visa users, then for Ready Lane and finally for those with general visas.

Neither U.S. nor Mexican authorities have provided a monthly update on the status of the border. However, it will be released at any moment.
