The Mayor of Tijuana, Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland, was distinguished as a Woman of Success by the Women's Alliance A.C., a merit she received for being a professional who has worked for the social welfare of the community, as well as for standing out as a great leader at the head of this border municipality.

At an event with professional and entrepreneurial women, Ruiz Macfarland thanked the founding president of the Alliance, Adriana Mendiolea Martínez, for representing such valuable women dedicated to serving the city.

"I feel very honored to receive this recognition, because by joining this short time challenge, I have surrounded myself with women with a vocation of service to the population. Being a mother, wife, daughter, being the first woman authority in one of the most important cities in the country, Tijuana, a social fighter, a professional, has not been easy, but I accepted this project because I know that as women we can continue to promote programs that value us, helping to occupy more places in government," said the mayor.

The mayor insisted that more women should be encouraged to occupy government positions, although it is still evident that it is very difficult for men to receive instructions, so she has sought to work on this balance, so that unity and the desire to participate for the welfare and social justice that Tijuana requires may prevail.

Likewise, she shared reflections and experiences she acquired while directing the municipal government, a task she dedicates to her children and family. In addition, she emphasized how much this task shaped her as a professional and promoted her in her own business, which finally reaffirmed her objectives and motivated her to grow in new areas.

For her part, the vice-president of the Alliance, expressed that Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland has not only been the authority in Tijuana, but from a very young age she has been a social fighter in the city, concerned about the community. For these reasons, she was presented with this recognition on behalf of the 100 women who make up the group, as well as a representative medal and two books written by her and her daughter: Great Women and Great Men: Stories of women in their lives.
