The XXIII Tijuana City Hall, headed by Mayor Karla Patricia Ruiz MacFarland, will provide the necessary support and advice to the families of police officers killed by COVID-19.
In the specific case of the deceased police officers, the president detailed that the affected families will receive a severance payment divided in the way the police officer had stipulated in their Letter of Testamentary, signed upon joining the municipal security forces and which must be requested by the family members. In addition, it is reported that the officers have life insurance that will also be delivered to the affected families who submit the necessary documents for the procedure in question.
Due to the above, the City Hall calls on the direct relatives of the deceased to come with the required documentation to the Mayor's Office, located on the first floor of the Municipal Palace, in order to initiate the process and have access to the resources already mentioned.
In the case of Eloísa Ibarra Cruz, who filed a disagreement regarding the settlement, it is reported that her request is in due process, so that she may receive 50% of the resources stipulated in the Testamentary Letter, which is equivalent, in her case, to 16 thousand pesos; the remaining 50% will be given to another family member according to the decision of the deceased officer.
The total amount given to family members in general, thanks to the Testamentary Letter, varies with respect to each police officer depending on the salary they receive and their time working in the institution.
The XXIII City Hall of Tijuana has provided the necessary support to the family members in order to help them to have the life insurance support of each officer as soon as possible. In addition, the City Hall has instructed the different agencies to follow up on the procedures that all City Hall employees may require in case of illness.
