After the arrival of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to Baja California on Tuesday, the head of the State Secretariat of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, reaffirmed that its application to the population from 18 to 39 years old will begin this Thursday, June 17.

Although the Secretary said that the vaccination points will be confirmed until 2:00 p.m. yesterday through their official media, a local media made these points public, so it is recommended to stay tuned to the authorities' media for any update or modification.

Being the largest age group in the State, the Secretary assured that "the following days will be historic in Baja California", since 100 thousand vaccines per day it is expected in the next 10 days.

In view of this, people between the ages of 18 to 39 were asked to register at the federal Health web page, https://mivacuna.salud.gob.mx/index.php in an incognito tab, since this is the way the Welfare Secretary processes the information, and therefore allows speeding up the process and avoiding bottlenecks at the vaccination points.

"This will be the key to success," said Pérez Rico.

In addition, he recommended that in the first days people over 30 years old should attend and then the younger ones, to avoid saturating the vaccination sites, since he assured that two days after the opening of a new group, the concentration of people decreases.

At the same time, he confirmed that to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine you only have to be between 18 and 39 years old, and be in Baja California, as well as present INE or CURP, in addition to their proof of registration.

"[They will not] ask for documentation if you are [in a migratory situation]; that does not apply here," he said.

He detailed that the delay of one more day for its application was due to the fact that they were planning and determining the vaccination sites, and health personnel were being trained, since this vaccine had not been given.

It was reminded that the cities to be vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson will be Tijuana, Mexicali, Ensenada, Rosarito and Tecate. The schedules could be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the exception of Mexicali which, due to its climate, will be vaccinated in the afternoon.

Currently only 18.24% of the population of Baja California has completed its vaccination schedule, so with the donation of the U.S. vaccine, Pérez Rico mentioned that, "this will increase dramatically in the next few days", and may even reach herd immunity.
