Green traffic light for Baja California will be in effect on Monday

Authorities stated that Mexicali will be the only municipality that will not transition to green coloring

For the first time and after remaining in yellow traffic light for a long time, Baja California will change to green traffic light as of Monday, June 7, informed the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico.

However, due to the number of cases and its positive trends, Mexicali will be the only municipality that will not advance with the region to the long awaited green traffic light, said the Secretary, although he did not indicate in which color it will remain. Currently, the state capital is in orange traffic light.

According to Pérez Rico, this traffic light change came about thanks to Tijuana and Ensenada, municipalities that despite being the three largest in the state, have reduced their cases and continue with a downward trend.

At the same time, he commented that on Monday the activities and capacities with which Baja California will operate under this new coloration will be announced, but these massive events where more than 500 people are concentrated, will need to obtain a letter of No Inconvenience from this agency, which will be granted once the health and safety protocols to be carried out in such event are presented and verified.

As of this Saturday, there are 400 active COVID-19 cases in the region, of which 263 are concentrated in Mexicali, 103 in Tijuana, 17 in Ensenada, five in Tecate, five in San Felipe, four in Rosarito and three in San Quintín.

Finally, the Secretary of Health asked to take care and conserve "this wellbeing", and added: "Mexicali, we are looking forward to seeing you when you are in line with the rest of the State and that your transmission rates decrease there".
