According to the general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (Cenaprece), Ruy López Ridaura, Mexico has registered a reduction in the number of COVID-19 infections. He also affirmed that half of the states are under the green traffic light in the Epidemiological chart.
Cases of the virus in Mexico have dropped significantly since the beginning of the pandemic, however, according to the Secretariat of Health, there are several states with signs of a resurgence.
Entities such as Quintana Roo, which after five weeks of an increase in the number of confirmed cases, represent a sign of a possible resurgence.
Other states with signs of a rebound of cases are Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, Colima, Baja California Sur and Baja California.
As a result, the positivity rate is 17%, while the lethality rate for the virus dropped one point to 5%.
As of yesterday, there are 17 thousand 782 active cases in the country, totaling 2 million 412 thousand 810 cases and 223 thousand 507 deaths due to coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.
Regarding vaccination progress, 21 million 636 thousand 247 people (17% of the national population) have received at least one dose and 12 million 390 thousand 240 (9.7%) are fully vaccinated. In addition, the vaccination day for people over 40 years of age recently began.
