The Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, indicated during his morning press conference that Mexicali could return to red traffic light due to the alarming increase of COVID-19 cases.

Mexicali is currently at number 9 of the municipalities with the most active cases of COVID in the country.

Meanwhile, Tijuana ranks 34th nationally.

Surprisingly, Baja California rose from 373 to 439 cases in 24 hours, 66 cases. Nearly 60% of those cases come from Mexicali.

"Derived from what is happening there, restrictions are coming, if this trend continues, it will not be long before we will have to determine that capacity restrictions are not coming, but rather that activities will be closed," said Pérez Rico.

The state has accumulated 48 thousand 22 cases and 8 thousand 46 deaths. Thursday alone there were 15 deaths: 5 in Tijuana, 5 in Mexicali and 5 in Ensenada.
