Last week, through a statement issued by the Tijuana State Public Utilities Commission (CESPT), it was reported that de la Amistad Park was contaminated due to fats, oils and chemicals spilled into the sanitary sewage system by companies in the area.

Through the press release, CESPT explained that they would take legal action against Bio Regeneradora de Baja California (BIOR) and Baja Waste Water Solution.

Due to this, the Municipal System of Theme Parks of Tijuana (SIMPATT) informed on May 9, through its social media, that de la Amistad Park would be closed for maintenance of the lake, after it was noticed that the lake's water had acquired a brownish tone.

This Monday, May 10, SIMPATT notified that the park will continue to be closed today due to deep cleaning works in the lake.

SIMPATT staff is working to reopen the park as soon as possible and affect the community that visits it regularly to a lesser extent.
