Check wait times at Tijuana-San Ysidro border crossing with CBP app

It gives you estimated times and schedules for the different border crossings from Mexico to the United States

Despite the fact that the border has been closed since March 2020 for non-essential travel, it is still common to see long lines to cross into the United States.

For this reason, we recommend a page that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offers. It provides current and estimated times for border crossings, which will be very useful for those with dual citizenship or for tourists crossing into San Diego for medical reasons.

Through CBP's Border Wait Times website, you can find out the wait times at the various border crossings into the United States, including the border crossing from Tijuana to San Diego.

To access Border Wait Times you can go to the following page or download the application on your cell phone, for iPhone hereí and for Android hereí.

This page not only shows you the times, it also shows you how many lines they have open, both in the regular lines as well as Ready Lane and Sentri.

Whether you select the general queue, Ready Lane or Sentri, they show you the current waiting time and the average time, this through a graph sorted by schedules (it also gives you the option to view it in a table). Also, in a tab where it says More, you can see if there is any news or something is happening at that border crossing.

In Border Wait Times you can also check waiting times at border crossings with Canada, see travel tips and read the page in English or Spanish.

When you enter the app you only have to select the border crossing in Mexico and then look for the checkpoint where you want to know the wait times.

CBP recently stated that the increase in illegal crossings has been affecting their operations at the different border crossings, since they have to spend resources to secure the port of entry and process these people, they comment that these resources could be dedicated to the processing of passengers and cargo; which causes an increase in waiting times for travelers. So if you're planning to cross, you'd better get mentally prepared.
