In the first minute of this Monday, April 19th, the Secretariat of Health of the State of Baja California announced the increase of restrictive measures in public activities, this due to the increase of infections registered in the entity and other places of the Mexican Republic, which are marked as the first symptoms of a possible third wave of COVID-19.

The above, due to the increase of mobility that has been registered in the last two weeks in the different municipalities of the State, as well as the lack of security measures in commercial establishments.

This Sunday, the Secretary of Health in the State indicated that the restrictive measures applicable as of the first minute of Monday, April 19 are: hotel occupancy at 50%, respecting reservations made in advance; social gatherings in closed halls are suspended, gardens and open air spaces may operate at 50% of their capacity.

Likewise, restaurants and cafeterias will be able to offer services only at 50% of their capacity. Authorities call on the population to help reduce the effective reproduction rate by decreasing mobility and avoiding transmission chains.

The operation of swap meets is limited to the sale of perishable food and cleaning supplies in neighborhoods with a high incidence of infection.

With the reduction of activities in these 4 areas, the aim is to avoid a third wave of infections, since according to the statistics of the last 30 days, the registered cases have been on the rise with a total of 350 active cases to date.

Likewise, it is urged not to engage in activities with high human concentration in order to avoid severe restrictive measures; the main interest is to reduce mobility to achieve a reduction in active cases.

The Secretariat of Health informed that starting next Wednesday, April 21, they will be applying the second dose of Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines against COVID-19 in Tijuana, this for adults over 60 years of age, so it is necessary to go to the same place where they received the first dose.
