Tijuana's beaches were opened yesterday, Thursday, April 1. This was informed by the mayor of Tijuana, Karla Ruiz MacFarland before the arrival of "Spring Break", clarifying that the sea contamination tests were barely passed and are not a health risk.

"We barely passed the tests. Now the instruction of the Secretariat of Health is that yes (they are open). I checked yesterday (Tuesday) with the Environmental Protection Directorate and they told me that they are apt. We are within the margin where you can use them, but it is not the optimal margin".

The Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico confirmed the information, asking the population to keep a distance of 4 meters with masks and that if they see massive gatherings they should report it to the authorities.

“Is it possible to visit the beaches? Yes, although if I go to the beach and see that there are 90 thousand people and they are all crowded together, what I am going to do is to grab my family, get into my car and say 'let's go and watch the beach from the TV because we are going to get infected here'.”

“The beach is very large, let's separate, let's carry our mouth covers and let's do it safely”.

The mayor of Tijuana indicated that during this weekend, operations will be carried out and the tourist and municipal police will be strengthened to carry out surveillance patrols and manage traffic in the area.
