Being only 6 days away from Spring Break we must look at all the risks it could bring to the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spring Break begins on Sunday, March 28 and ends on Saturday, April 3, in Mexico this season has always been for vacationing and going out to have fun, with the current context, this has changed. Although it has been a few weeks since the state's epidemiological traffic light changed to yellow, new cases continue to be registered. Certainly the number of daily cases has decreased, but with Easter week approaching, this represents a risk for the entire state.

Recently, swimming pools have reopened, and places such as gyms, movie theaters, restaurants, bars, among others, have increased their capacity. This, together with the upcoming vacations, will bring a rebound of cases to the state.

In addition, it is estimated that hotel occupancy will exceed 70%, thus generating higher sales and profits for thousands of state businesses. For this reason, the surveillance of sanitary protocols in tourist businesses will be reinforced.

Baja California Sur is already preparing, and from April 1st to April 4th, its beaches will remain closed in order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus due to the vacation period.

Archbishop Francisco Moreno Barron told the press on March 21 that due to the contingency, the Catholic Church's Holy Week Stations of the Cross will not take place. Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Night and Easter Sunday will be held in person but with a minimum capacity, respecting sanitary protocols. The Archbishop emphasized that these activities will be transmitted live on the social media of the Archdiocese of Tijuana.

The Secretary of Health, Alfonso Perez Rico, announced the mass vaccination posts for senior citizens in Tijuana. Among them are the Estadio de los Toros, La Plaza de Toros, the Universidad Autónoma de Tijuana and the Preparatoria Lazaro Cardenas, in addition to 10 other posts scattered mainly in the eastern part of the city.

It is estimated that around 25 thousand vaccines will be administered per day, and we expect to finish in a week's time with the vaccinations for seniors.

Remember that even if the traffic light changes to green in the coming weeks, we must not be careless, we must stay at home and follow the sanitary measures.
