The lack of parks in Tijuana has been a problem that has been dealt with during the last decades due to the rapid expansion of the urban area, therefore, councilman Arnulfo "Fufo" Guerrero Leon has presented an initiative before the city council to give the city its first forest.

The objective of creating such space is to promote coexistence and recreation in a healthy environment for the development of children, as well as to contribute to the purification of Tijuana's air.

The proposal will be reviewed by the Municipal Government, who if considered will carry out the corresponding procedures to acquire a 40 hectare property in the southern area of the city, on Boulevard 2000, near Cuervo de los Venados.

Currently our city has only two parks: La Amistad and Parque Morelos, the latter with 40 hectares of extension where there is a zoo, a greenhouse, a lake, a playground and slides.

Tijuana requires a forest, a sufficiently large and open space that includes protected natural areas, green areas, wildlife, vegetation and natural landscapes for the preservation of regional ecosystems, which also contributes to the health and well-being of the city's inhabitants by preventing diseases associated with environmental pollution.

Arnulfo Guerrero Leon indicated.

The decision to approve the city forest depends on the Planning, Urbanism, Works and Public Services Commission, which is currently chaired by Councilman German Zambrano.

The project is expected to radically change the image of Tijuana by promoting outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking, as well as a space for recreation and leisure for the health of the citizens.
