Cases of COVID-19 Baja California continue to decline

The state maintains a 30-day decline in COVID-19 infections

The pandemic is not over, but fortunately the state of Baja California has finally begun to show a control in the registered infections, causing the state to maintain a drop in COVID-19 cases for a little over a month, according to data announced by the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico.

Today, Tijuana once again showed a decrease in active cases with 239, placing it in 42nd place among the municipalities with the most cases registered nationwide; meanwhile, Mexicali is in 47th place with 199 active cases, while Ensenada continues to decrease with only 89 new active cases, placing it in 67th place. For the rest of the municipalities, San Quintin has 39 cases under treatment, 25 in Rosario, 11 in Tecate and 10 in San Felipe.

Based on the data recorded, the continuation of the streak of decreases in COVID-19 cases is confirmed, since one month ago, the entity had more than one thousand 70 cases, while currently it has an accumulated 610. In terms of incidence per 100 thousand inhabitants, Ensenada maintains first place with 23.26, Rosarito 22.25, Mexicali 19.37, Tijuana 13.55 and Tecate with 9.40.

Likewise, it was registered that in the last 24 hours 18 people lost the battle against the coronavirus in Baja California, a much lower figure compared to that reported by Mexico City, which currently reports 245 deaths in the last day. 35 thsouand 425 tests have given negative results, one thousand 360 are being monitored by the health system as they are considered ''suspicious'', while so far Baja California has an accumulated 42 thousand 765 infections and 7 thousand 155 deaths so far in the pandemic.

In better news, 31 thousand 655 patients are already recovered from the disease, maintaining hospital occupancy at 21%, when last January 18, occupancy was over 70% in hospitals and clinics in the region. A total of 64 thousand and 79 seniors have already been vaccinated since the beginning of phase 2 of the National Vaccination Plan started last Monday, distributed as follows: 12 thousand 32 in Ensenada, 26 thousand and 48 in Mexicali, 24 thousand and 79 in Tijuana, one thousand 9 in Tecate and one thousand 8 in Rosarito.

Although just yesterday, Mexico was out of the ranking of the countries with the most cases in the last 24 hours, the increase of infections in Mexico City (8 thousand 600) in the last hours has caused the nation to rise to the 12th place.
