Mexico confirms 10 thousand 738 cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours

The country continues to have the highest mortality rate and the third highest number of deaths worldwide.

The Secretariat of Health announced the registration of 10 thousand 738 new cases of coronavirus in the Mexican Republic, detected in the last 24 hours, while deaths from the disease also recorded in the same period of time added one thousand 701 deaths.

Even though a difference of 7 thousand cases was recorded compared to the number registered on Monday, February 8, Jose Luis Alomia, director of epidemiology, stated that the trend in cases diagnosed with the SARS Cov-2 virus have been decreasing week after week since mid-January 2021.

"Another element is that the most recent epidemic activity is only 3 percent of the total estimated cases, it is an indicator that has also decreased."

Mexico continues to maintain the mortality rate at 8.6%, the highest worldwide, with a net total of 168 thousand 432 deaths, also maintaining third place in the list of nations with the most deaths caused by coronavirus, only behind Brazil (233 thousand 520) and the United States (467 thousand 673), while infections already total one million 946 thousand 751.

13 states remain under the red light, Nuevo Leon, Jalisco, Nayarit, Colima, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos and Guerrero; 17 are under orange: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Durango, Veracruz, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, Tabasco, Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Chihuahua, while Chiapas and Campeche remain in yellow.

Likewise, Olivia Lopez Arellano, reported a decrease in the country's hospital occupancy rate, which has been registered for the last 10 days. The Mexican nation remains at 24% availability in general and intubation beds, with 76% occupancy so far.
