Mexico has already recorded 166 thousand 200 deaths due to COVID-19

The Mexican country continues in third place on the list of countries with more deaths registered by coronavirus.

The Secretariat of Health (SS) informed that so far the number of deaths registered in the country has reached 166 thousand 200 cases, with 414 more confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Regarding the number of infections, the country already accumulates one million 932 thousand 145 cases, without adding the 13 thousand 209 infections diagnosed yesterday.

While the country is still in third place among the ''top'' nations with the highest rate of deaths due to COVID-19 worldwide, the mortality rate has risen from 8.5% to 8.6% and the federal agency estimates that there are already 2 million 127 thousand 448 cases in the country.

As for hospital occupancy, the nation maintains 50% availability of beds, while those with ventilators are free at 52%.

The National Vaccination Program, started in December last year, has already applied around 713 thousand 517 anti-Covid doses, distributed among health personnel and members of the educational sector. Both doses have already been administered to 75 thousand 836 people.

The states with the highest number of active cases are Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Nuevo Leon and Guanajuato, while Queretaro, Jalisco, Puebla, Tabasco, San Luis Potosi, Coahuila, Baja California Sur and Veracruz are close behind with more than one thousand active cases. When adding the infections of the aforementioned entities, they concentrate 84% of the cases currently treated.
