Baja California reached 38 thousand 266 accumulated positive cases of COVID-19 this Wednesday, after registering 564 new cases in the last 24 hours, informed yesterday morning the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico.
Of these cases, 246 were reported in Tijuana, 153 in Mexicali, 89 in Ensenada, 33 in San Quintín, 23 in Rosarito, 13 in Tecate and seven in San Felipe.
According to the Secretary, it is still unknown what caused this high number of registered cases, so today the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will investigate what happened, since more than 400 of these cases were reported here.
The municipalities that have been most affected in number of infections are Mexicali with 15 thousand 218, Tijuana with 13 thousand 442 and Ensenada with 5 thousand 590.
On the other hand, 37 more people were also reported to have lost their lives due to this disease; 31 of them in Tijuana, three in Mexicali and three in Ensenada. With this, there have been 6 thousand 300 deaths due to coronavirus in the state, only 2 thousand 798 were in the border city and 2 thousand 429 in the state capital.
Thus, Baja California continues to be on high alert for COVID-19, since there are still one thousand 246 active cases, 496 of them in Tijuana, 417 in Mexicali and 186 in Ensenada; the rest are in the other municipalities.
