From the official website of the City of Tijuana it was reported that during the festivities the garbage collection service continued to be active and that during the Christmas-New Year period 6,107 tons of garbage were removed throughout the city.

According to the director of Municipal Public Services of Tijuana, 80% of the team in charge of garbage collection in the city worked during the festivities and because of the increase in waste during these dates, collection was delayed in certain areas.

They specifically reported that during December 24 and 25, 2 thousand 808 tons of garbage were collected, while on December 21 and January 1, 3 thousand 299 tons were collected, for a total of 6 thousand 107.

They urged the population to report people who contribute to the formation of illegal garbage dumps. This is because during the rainy season, the garbage is washed away and this causes blockage that can lead to flooding.
