It is the darkest moment of the pandemic in Baja California: Pérez Rico

Baja California has 220 people intubated

During the daily update on the situation of the coronavirus in Baja California, the State Health Secretary, Alonso Pérez Rico, informed that the number of cases, deaths and hospitalizations continues to rise: Mexico currently has one million 320 thousand 545 COVID-19 cases, while registering 118 thousand 202 unfortunate deaths.

Of these deaths, 4 thousand 962 have happened in Baja California, and this is why the state will remain under the red traffic light. In the last few days, 33 unfortunate deaths have been registered. "We are living the darkest moment of the pandemic," said Pérez Rico referring to the new infections not only in the region, but in the whole country.

To date, Mexicali has the highest number of active cases at 443, Tijuana at 163, Ensenada at 224 and not far behind are San Quintin and Tecate with 42 and 26 respectively. San Felipe has 20 and Rosarito 21.

They reported that, sadly, in our state there are 220 Baja Californians who are intubated, and the situation of the hospitals exceeds 85% of capacity, while the private hospitals are saturated.

For his part, Pérez Rico commented that in the last five weeks an outbreak of cases is being observed and he showed his disapproval when he saw so many people who this weekend went out to malls and plazas, many of them without face masks: "we do not understand what is happening with these people" he said.
