All Tijuana residents know Plaza Bonita, one of the most visited shopping malls by Mexicans across the border. However, since the coronavirus began to spread through the Americas and with it came the restrictions, 10 months have passed without being able to cross "to the other side", at least those with tourist visas.

Tijuana residents consider this situation very strange since for many it is the first time in their lives that they are not allowed to cross. But the ones who regret it most are the businesses that derive a large part of their annual profits from Mexicans who spend their Christmas bonuses in U.S. stores.

No business has been more affected than those in San Ysidro, but Plaza Bonita seems not to be left behind as several of its stores have closed and you can see several empty spaces. Christmas decorations are also conspicuous by their absence and the typical little train that began its journey in front of Macy's is now abandoned.

Some of the stores have moved to smaller premises and others have merchandise but are closed. You can't help but feel sad about these images, it seems that Christmas has been put on hold until next year... we´ll wait.
