The Baja California Attorney General's Office reported that so far in 2020 there have been 1,788 homicides in Tijuana. In November alone, 109 were registered, which is an average of almost six per day.
The mayor of Tijuana, Arturo González Cruz, dismissed the figure and indicated that because of the large number of inhabitants in the city it is normal that most of the murders occur there.
"If it hadn't been for the drop in homicides in Tijuana, the state would have more than it did last year. Tijuana is doing well, we should also work on the homicides in other municipalities," the municipal president said, after the installation of security committees.
