After analyzing that in the fall and winter season respiratory diseases, flu or colds increase, and that more holidays are approaching in Baja California, the Secretary of Health Alonso Pérez Rico reported last Sunday, November 8, during his update of COVID-19 cases, some of the measures that the population should follow to avoid the increase of infections by the new coronavirus.

Among these days considered necessary to monitor and control since they normally cause a crowd of people, are the "Buen Fin", holiday for the Day of the Mexican Revolution, Thanksgiving Day, the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, and the Christmas season.

Therefore, the following security measures focus on social events or holidays:

  • No meetings of more than three households or the equivalent of 10 people, in addition to ensuring social distancing, hand washing, cleaning of surfaces, and proper use of masks at the meeting site.
  • The organizer of the meeting should have a census with the name and address of the attendees so that in case of any infection, the chain of community transmission of the outbreak can be controlled through epidemiological monitoring.
  • All meetings should be held outdoors.
  • Common areas such as bathrooms, waiting rooms or hallways should be cleaned frequently (every 30 minutes).
  • Hold meetings in gardens for social events, as long as measures such as the use of masks, hand washing and social distancing are carried out, in addition to disinfecting commonly used sites (bathrooms, hallways, etc.)

At this point, the Secretary of Health explained, "I only need 15 minutes to get infected with COVID in a poorly ventilated space.

  • Healthy distance should be maintained in public spaces.
  • All food and snacks should be served in disposable utensils.
  • Face masks should be used at all times, except for eating, hand washing, social distancing and cleaning furniture surfaces, handrails or doors in common areas.
  • The social gathering should last a maximum of two hours.
  • Singing is not recommended

In addition to this, Pérez Rico confirmed that the Army will once again join the fight against COVID-19, "because to be very sincere, we are going to occupy military auxiliary units to fight the battle in the winter period here in the state".
