Border restrictions, opportunity for the "Buen Fin": CANACO

Businesses in the region are expected to have an economic recovery thanks to the "Buen Fin"

On November 4, the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Tijuana (CANACO) announced through a press conference the 2020 edition of the Buen Fin, which they estimate will be different from the previous ones due to the restrictions at the border crossing.

At the press conference, Jorge Macias, president of CANACO, said that : "this number of people who cannot cross the border at this time can stay here". He added that there are U.S. citizens who also shop in Mexico and therefore we are in a "privileged position".

This is because a large number of Tijuana residents have traditionally done their Christmas shopping in the United States. However, the increase in cases of coronavirus in the border region will influence the decision to open the border that will be announced on November 21.

In this version of Buen Fin, 150 shopping centers will be participating. The CANACO pointed out the importance of respecting health protocols when making face-to-face purchases, since according to them it is not a matter of "...people not going out and not consuming, but rather that they do so in a responsible manner" .

They urged businesses to respect sanitary measures, but also buyers to comply with the measures that places have decided to take to keep employees and workers safe.
