COVID-19 testing sites to be opened for teachers and students in San Diego

San Diego, Chula Vista, Del Mar and El Cajon will have a COVID-19 test site starting tomorrow.

The County of San Diego through the Communications Office reports that starting October 1st new sites will be opened for COVID-19 testing.

Where will these COVID-19 testing sites open?

San Diego, Chula Vista, Del Mar and El Cajon.

Testing will be walk-in, and recommendations for school employees are for periodic surveillance testing.

The department reports that San Diego County Fire Department personnel will be working with rural school communities to evaluate staff.

Students in grades K-12 may be tested at:

- Rady Children's Hospital
- Kaiser Permanente
- San Diego County Site

It is estimated that in two weeks the COVID-19 testing sites in San Diego will increase from 29 to 41. And the testing will double to about 30 thousand tests per week.

So far the County is maintaining level 2 (red) and the next report is scheduled for October 6.

Yesterday, 14 new outbreaks were confirmed in the community: 7 in commercial settings, 5 in restaurants, 1 in a food processing environment.
