The head of the Sustainable Economy and Tourism Department (SEST) of Baja California, Mario Escobedo Carignan, presented a report on mobility of the September 4-6 Labor Day weekend in the state, a celebration of the United States.

According to the Secretary, there were 194 thousand visitors, 268 thousand 230 vehicles that entered through various booths; thus causing an economic flow of $828 million pesos in the region.

"We are not promoting tourism. The United States promotes every day not to cross the border, not to travel, only to make essential crossings. In spite of that, what happened? 32 thousand 245 rooms were rented this weekend," said Carignan.

Of these rooms, according to information from the head of the SEST, 10 thousand 537 were in beach destinations and 20 thousand 335 in border cities; which, when compared to the previous weekend (August 28-30) represents an increase of 11.05%, this means 3 thousand 208 more rooms, Escobedo explained.

How many stayed in Tijuana? The border city was not only the municipality that received the most economic income, totaling 303 million pesos of the 828 million at the state level, but of the total number of rooms rented, 11 thousand 809 were located in Tijuana, thus registering a total of 71 thousand visitors of the 194 thousand in total.
