Tijuana will have an Interurban Train: it will go from the San Ysidro Port of entry to Maclovio Rojas

This includes the installation of stations located at the San Ysidro Port of entry, Americas East, 5 and 10, 21st Century, Garcia Station, Teran-Teran and Maclovio Rojas

This week, new plans for Baja California were announced. A Tijuana-Tecate Interurban train project, which includes the construction of seven stations, located at the San Ysidro port of entry, Americas East, 5 and 10, 21st Century, Garcia Station, Teran-Teran and Maclovio Rojas.

The Department of Sustainable Economy and Tourism (SEST), Mario Escobedo, explained that the plan includes the improvement of 32 cruise ships with other communication routes, remodeling of two terminals, rehabilitation and equipment for 12 trains, and acquisition of right-of-way.

The Tijuana-Tecate Interurban Train aims to improve the quality of life and the future of the metropolis.

It is hoped that the train will be a safer, more sustainable option that will meet the social conditions of the population, as well as the demands of the new normality in an area where urban mobility is a great challenge due to distances, lack of order and integration of transportation routes.

On the other hand, it was highlighted that, according to studies, between the Tijuana-Tecate metropolitan area it is estimated that 857 thousand 335 inhabitants (47%) travel by car, and this project aims to reduce the mobility of 42 thousand 867 vehicles (between 2% and 5%).
