Reopening of hotel bars in Tijuana announced

The guidelines for the reopening were imposed by the Federal Government

Despite the fact that Baja California is under red light by state order and under an orange light by federal order, it was announced on Thursday that as of the weekend bars are allowed to reopen inside hotels in the city of Tijuana, under a trial arrangement, as announced by the Department of Sustainable Economy and Tourism (SEST) in an interview with El Imparcial.

The reopening will take place in the city of Tijuana first and then in the various counties of the state, when the mayors agree on the reopening and if the bars show the design and application of their health and safety protocol.

"We are starting to open on the weekend in some hotels that are able to comply with the protocols, and the following week we will be opening the others," he said.

The state official recalled the protest that was witnessed this week in Tijuana in which the opening of the bars was demanded.

"What we would like is for people to go to the bar and have two drinks, have a good time and go home to rest, we would like to prevent people from getting drunk," he said.

On the other hand, the guidelines for the reopening were announced and imposed by the federal government, on which their protocols should be based. After evaluating them and checking that they comply with the general security council, they prepared a program identifying the 59 productive activities.

It was also revealed that the reactivation of all sectors is planned for the second half of September, although it warns that it will depend on the behaviour of the population in terms of COVID-19 infecciones.
