The renowned port of entry of San Ysidro has begun the construction of eight lanes on the Mexican side of the crossing, so that cars can use the new infrastructure of the border crossing and increase border traffic flow.
According to the press release issued by the Secretary of Communications and Transport, this is a $40 million pesos investment by which eight lanes of 225 meters will be built, including an emergency lane and two u-turn lanes.
These will be located on the left side of the entry port, right at the old Puerta Mexico, which for many years was the entrance to Tijuana from San Ysidro.
On the other hand, it was also announced that traffic control devices will be installed, where users, through an application, will be able to know waiting times, from the main access roads to the border crossing, as well as weather conditions.
The estimated deadline for this construction´s completion is October 2020.
